Note for: Russell Hulbert, 12 DEC 1779 - Index

Note: Probably born in Nova Scotia. His father and grandfathers
family, it is understood, removed to Nova Scotia during the
early years of the Revolutionary War, but afterwards, at the
close of the war, returned to New England. It is said that he
had a wife and children, but their names are not learned. He
lived in Christian Hill, Great Barrington, Mass., but from
there removed westward to New York state. It thought he had two
sons who lived in Victor, NY., and that one was named 'Mark'.

Note: He had removed to Great Barrington with his father's family
when he was four years old. They lived on Christian Hill when
his father died. The mother of Sylvester and family removed to
another part of town, but in 1871 he came into the village of
Great Barrington, where he continued until his death. 'His
integrity was of the strictest kind and his name was always
mentioned with the greatest respect.' (Hurlbut Gen)
