Note for:   Susan S Hulbert,   07 NOV 1802 - 23 SEP 1878         Index
Note:   A newspaper clipping from an unnamed source is pasted into the
Deaths column:
"Died in Petersburg, Monroe county, Mich. September 23d, at
the house of Harlow Camburn, her son-in-law, Mrs. SUSAN TRACY,
wife of Wm. Tracy, aged 75 years. She was born in Chatham,
Conn., but spent the most of her childhood and youth in Bozrah,
where, 58 years ago, she devoted herself to the service of the
Lord and united with the church. During all these years she
endeavored, as a daughter, wife and mother, to walk prayerfully
and humbly with God. After her marriage she lived several
years in Lisbon, Conn., and then removed with her husband and
some friends to the West, and found a home in Lima, in this
State. Here her children, during a precious revival, entered
into covenant with God, and her son, Rev. D. B. Tracy, of
Detroit, at length entered the Christian ministry in connection
with the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1866 the family
removed to Petersburg, and she united by letter with the
Presbyterian Church. She loved Christians of every name, and
rejoiced with them in the prosperity of Zion. She loved the
house of God, and seldom failed, when health permitted, to be
present on the Sabbath. A few days before she died she spoke
with affectionate interest of the Christian companions of her
youth in Bozrah, and observed that one of them had recently had
a golden wedding; and then said that October 25th was the
fiftieth anniversary of her own. But she did not expect to see
that day, and thought rather that she might tread the golden
street of the blessed city.
Wm. S. Taylor
Pastor First Presbyterian Church
Petersburg, Mich."
The clipping has a pencilled note, in a handwriting that tries
to emulate the
other entries:
Died Sept. 23 AD 1878"

Sincerely,
Katrina Robeck
