Inez Lucinda RAY

Inez had a heart valve replaced in January of 1995 at the age of 87. Sh e was making a wonderful recovery from surgery. Three days after returni ng home from open heart surgery she was readmitted to the hospital with c ongestion of the lungs. She made excellent progress with this and again w as released from the hosptial. Almost immediately upon returning home sh e started to hemmorage and returned to the hospital. Two days later she p ast away.

Inez was the youngest of the Ray girls. She also was the one of whom he r step father (Wheeler) 'picked on' the most. When she was a teenager he r Aunt in St. Louis took her home with her. She stayed with them for sev eral years eventually going to school to be a telephone operator. Her ol der sister Laura missed her so much that she too went to St. Louis. The y both returned to Iowa later. Inez took care of her mother in the last d ays of her mothers' life. [S127]
