Abiram applied for his war pension on September 24, 1832 in St. Lawrenc
e Co., NY. aged 68. He lived in Washington, Litchfield County, Ct. at enl
istment. An Elisha Hurlbut was aged 69, a resident of St. Lawrence Co., N
Y. in 1832 and had lived in Washington, Ct. during the Revolutionary War
, said he knew the soldier well and that his father was Lt Samuel Hurlbu
t who also served in the Rev War. The soldiers son, John E. Hurlbut mad
e affidavit January 8, 1855 at Richfield, Summit Co., Ohio, and stated th
at soldier had died in March of 1846 leaving a widow (not named) who die
d in December of 1852 and his parents had married in 1801. (Abst Rev Wa

Per the Linage of the DAR (1896) "Abiram was with his father at the evac
uation of New York"
