Jonathan Bachman married Hannah Tittsworth first, when Hannah died Jonat han married her sister Martha Tittsworth.

Traditon says that the older of the two sons, Jonathan was kidnapped b y Indians and ransomed, which may have influenced Samuel to leave Pennsyl vania, but it is believed that the chief reason was his oppostion to mili tary service, being a Quaker or Mennonite faith. He is said to have bough t the first wagon to Sullivan County, Tennessee, loaded with merchandise , some of which he traded for land. He then returned to Pennsylvania an d bought his family to what is now Kingsport probably about the year 1776 .

This resea rch was made for her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Jim Wattenbarger of Milan, M issouri by H.R. Langowski along with Donna Kube of Santa Ana, California . This
