Notes

Came to Dorchester, Mass. on the "Mary and John" in 1630, he sold land th ere in 1635. Was at Windsor, Ct. before 1640 (Prob 1635 or 6), removed t o Hartford where his first wife died.

He married second wife, Ann, widow of Samuel Allen, who was buried in Wi ndsor April 28, 1648. This marriage was before Sept 26, 1653.

Believe William Jr and perhaps Ann were children of second wife.

Removed to Northampton, Mass. 1657 or earlier, and was charter member o f church there.

From "History of Northampton" by L.R.Trumbull (1898) p.37; "The lots upo n the highways just named having been occupied, settlers began to cluste r around Meeting House Hill. William Hulbert is first mentioned as havin g a home lot in that vicinity. He had four acres with a boundry near th e present line of Gothic Street. South of him were John Ingersoll and Tho mas Salmon. Above William Hulbert, where the Parochial School now is, wa s the homestead granted to Nathaniel Phelps. His son, Nathaniel Phelps Jr ., had a grant west of his father, and together they owned a strip of lan d bordering on Park Street, from King Street brook to Prospect Street . A highway very nearly coinciding with Gothic Street, gave access to th e brickyard, located on the brook, and Hulbert an outlet." [S725]

He is listed as a passenger (William Hulbirt) of the Winthrop Fleet in 16 30. His vessel landed at Boston with his destination Northampton, Mass. ( Planters of the Commonwealth - Banks)
