"...service for Henry...Hurlbutt, whose sudden...Nov 5th shocked the...n ity, was held on the following Saturday at the Methodist Church, conducte d by Rev Robert Sharp. Internment took place in Summer Street Cemetery i n Lancaster.
"The deceased was born in Whitefield, June 3, 1880, later living in Lun enburg, New York City and Guildhall, V., coming to Groveton in 1909. On J an 15, 1918 Mr Hurlbutt married Myrtle E Deering of Guildhall. To them we re born five children: Ralph of Groveton, Raymond of the US Army, Windso r of Derry, and Naomi and Joan of Groveton.
"Mr Hurlbutt, who was the son of the late Silas Hurlbutt and Georgiann a Hayes Hurlbutt, was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Groveto n and had been in business here for 16 years. He had been in poor healt h for a number of years and during that time his eldest son, Ralph, has b een conducting the business.
"In addition to his wife and children he is survived by three sisters an d one brother: (Clara) Mrs Wyeth Holmes of Jefferson, Clarence of Penacoo k, (Vinnie) Mrs F E Libbey of Huntington, Que, and (Elizabeth) Mrs Horac e Summers of Jefferson. The eldest sister (Lillis) Mrs Harry Wilson die d in 1918.
"The many floral offerings, messages of sympathy and the large number o f relatives and friends who gathered to pay their final tribute showed th e high esteem in which the deceased was held by all who knew him." [S292]
