From 'Biographical Sketch of the Late Mrs. Hurlburt,' printed in the new spaper, 'British Can Died, Dec. 21st, 1863, Betsey Almira, eldest daughte r of Rev. Ezra Adams and wife of Rev. Tho e. In the days of her childhoo d and early youth, the itinerant ministry with which her fathe g points . ... In 1832 she was united in marriage to the Rev. Thomas Hurlburt, a t the Muncey M s of his extensive district of which he was presiding elde r. In 1834, Mr. H was appointed to n A. Hurlburt] to make their way, aide d by two Indians, to the place of destination, pitching . H was sent to e stablish a mission on the North shore of Lake Superior (La Pic) .... afte r t s to remain....that she contracted the disease which terminated her e arthly existence. ... an .. Meeting about this time with what seemed a pr ovidential opening to enter the mission work er with his family. ... Seve n years' residence in this genial climate so far restored her hea n he st arted with his wife and two children, leaving four children still livin g in Canada, fo ed to Mrs. Hurlburt's Journal; the first entry reads, 'Au g. 5, 1854. Arrived Rossville...] alth continued to decline from that ca use together with a return of her old complaint under t eturn with her ch ildren to Canada should she be spared till navigation opened as the onl y hop m. A more favorable climate again partially restored her health. T he last five and a half ye f diseases which the doctors within call did n ot seem to understand made it necessary that sh w days if spared and the n proceeding to her father's in Drayton. She took her youngest son wi ld , and afterwards did raise her up; and then remarked, 'God has not show n me this time, I wo n the last hemorrhage took place - she turned to m e and said, 'It is now over, brother', and .
