He was a farmer near Tecumseh, Neb. (DNH EHH) Obituary: "Alba James Hurlb utt of Tecumseh, who had been in failing health two years with heart ailm ent, passed away at the Tecumseh Hospital at 4:30 am Friday, March 30, 1 951. He had been bedfast during the last two and one-half weeks, and ha d been cared for at the hospital nearly all of that time.

"He was born five and one-half miles southeast of Tecumseh on Septembe r 7, 1882, and spent his entire life in this county. He received his educ ation in the rural schools. His parents, Charles and Eliza Lang Hurlbutt , were early settlers of Illinois...

"Mr Hurlbutt became affiliated with the Long Branch Free Will Baptist Ch urch in early youth, and was a member of Hamlin Lodge, Independent Orde r of Odd Fellows, at Tecumseh. His lifes occupation was farming, and he l ived on a farm until September 1928, when he established a home in Tecum seh.

"He had assumed civic duties, holding offices with the rural school an d was treasurer of the Grandview Cemetery Association, a position he hel d at the time of his death.

"Besides his wife and the son already mentioned, Mr Hurlbutt is survive d by two step-children, Mrs Howard (Leona) Zook of Glenvil and Arthur Boy er of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Ronald, Zack, Barbara, Alan and Thoma s Zook and Lynne Boyer; a sister, Mrs Frank (Erma) McReynolds of Fort Mor gan, Colorado; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Turner of Denver, Colorado.

"Funeral services were held here Sunday at 2:30pm in the Wheeler Chapel , with Dr Roy N Spooner, pastor of the Tecumseh Methodist Church presidin g. The I.O.O.F. lodge of Tecumseh participated in the graveside service . Interment was in Grandview Cemetery."

George was a fisherman along the coa st of Maine for many years, moving westward as the Massachusetts Bay Colo ny came into control.
