Removed to Enfield, Ct. and then to Chardon, ohio were he died 25 Oct. 18
28. He served as Lieutenant on the privateer "Sampson" in the Rev War. Wa
s taken prisoner and confined on a British prision ship in new York harbo
r, and finally released after suffering great hardship. He was subsequent
ly captured by Algerine pirates in the mediterranean, loaded with chain
s and held for a ransom. Being eventually released through the vigorous o
perations of Commodore Decature. His wife Sarah Hurlbut died at Hambdon
, ohio 24 Aug 1840 aged 96.
