Notes
He was a captain of the Marine Service of the Revolution. He also serve
d with Capt Hinman, in the privateer 'Alfred'; was taken prisoner and hel
d in the Fortune Prison, at Portsmouth, Eng. He escaped with others by di
gging under the outside wall, he reached home via France, in 1779. He aft
erwards lost his life in the exposion of the 'Penobscott'. It is understo
od he recieved by will the property of his brother-in-law George Hurlbut
