The will of Gilbert Brooks of Rehoboth dated 6/6 and probated 7/05/1695an d signed like his deeds by mark bequeaths to his wife Sarah thedwelling h ouse orchard and home lot and some movables during the time ofher widowho od and bearing my name ,as well as some livestock andprovisions for her c urrent use , To Grandson Benony Wiggins blank acresof land on the north s ide and a quartere part of my commons on the northside , with some moveab les to stepson Zacariah Carpenter that lives withme 40s some weapons an d an axe that was his fathers ,to his 9 unnameddaughters an equal share o f the estate after his death excepting daughterRachels share to grandso n Benony Wiggins sons in law Robert Crosman andWilliam Manle to be execut ors . He provided that his children shall nothave whole shares till my w ife do leave that which i bequeathed to her .Finally to Grandchild Bathsh eba Walker 20s to Grandson Brooks Thrasher20s and to Zacariah Carpente r a coverlet . Witnesses were Samuel Newman ,Richard Bowen and Nathanie l Chaffee all of Rehoboth . The inventory of MrGilbert Brooks of the tow n of Rehoboth who deceased the 13th day of June1695 dated 7/04/1695 , Nic holas Peck and Richard Bowen appraisers , Wasuntotalled . Real estate amo unted to 84 pounds 12 acres of land 9 poundshomelot 43 pounds 7 acres 3 l b s 10s 50 lbs commanage 2 lbs 10s 1 acre 6lbs and land and rights on th e north side 20 lbs the inventory alsoincluded books valued at 6s . 7/15/ 1695 Robert Crossman and WilliamManley executors of the last will and tes taament of Mr Gilbert Brooks whodied the 30th day of June 1695 presente d an acct of legacies paid . Tothe widow , 11-10-6 to Zacariah Carpente r 3-14-6, To Benoni Wiggins 2-5 ,To Rebecca Haskins , 12s with other thin gs not particularly mentioned andtherefore no sum to them but all her du e by will , To Batsheba Walker7-18-9.5 , To Betiah Thresher with what rec ieved upon will 7-18-9.5 , ToSarah Lyon 7-13 , To Elizabeth Stevens child ren 5-9-4.5 and as to Rachelanother Daughter being at Long Island we hav e as yet oppurtunity to payher anything , Mary Colburn as yet will not re cieve any portion butrather shows dislike of the will , And as to lands w e have not yet theoppurtunity to divide them , Our mother , The widow , H aving the houseand houselot during her widowhood , by will the rest of th e estate as itis circumstanced is in our hand to be further disposed of a ccording towill .
