  The marriage record for John Hurlburt in the 'Town Records of the Town o f Hanover, New Hampshire Vital Stastics 1762-1847' (page 174) gives Louis e as 'Louisa Webster.' However at the Rauner Library at Dartmouth Colleg e in Hanover there is a card file compiled by Dr. Gilman D. Frost, and o n the back of the card for John and Louise is the following: 'She was Lou ise Webster or Comett. Dr. Frost is not certain who these people are. H e thinks that perhaps a daughter was Jerusha, b. 1814 Hanover, d. 1891, S . 14 Claremont, N.H. age 77y 3m 24d. (see town records) m. _____ Stevens. ' Jerusha's death certificate gives her mother as 'Lois Comet.'
  
  The marriage certificate for John and Louise Hurlburt states only that t hey were married by Isaac Bridgman, Clergyman Nov. 11, 1813. No parents w ere listed.
  
  Further investigation reveals that Jerusha Hurlburt, of Lebanon, N. H. m arried Linus Stevens, (grandson of the Hon. Elihu Stevens of Guilford, Co nn.) as his second wife, April 27, 1848. Linus and Jerusha had two daugh ters, Emma Jane and Sarah Eva. Emma Jane who married Laurence A. Tolles , had three children, one of whom was Edwin Harvey Tolles. Stevens Gen ealogy by Charles Ellis Stevens, New York, Piivately Printed, 1904.
  
  An obituary for Lois C. Hurlburt, (daughter of John Hurlburt and his sec ond wife, (Mrs. Sarah [French] Welch) which appeared in the Mancheste r Union, April 18, 1917, gives E. H. Tolles as one of the pall bearer s. Another obituary for Lois states that she was survived by Mrs. J. Ed C offin of Manchester [NH] a niece of Lois. Eva Adele Hurlburt Coffin was t he daughter of Jerusha's brother, Thomas Baker Hurlburt.
