This is to certify that Isaiah P. Rathbun
Enlisted March 20, 1864 from Washtenaw County, Michigan and was muistere
d into the United States service at Kalamazoo, Michigan March 22, 1864 a
s a Private for 3 years in Company G 12th Regiment Michigan Volunteer Inf
antry under Captain William W. Graves and Colonel William H. Graves and D
wight May. Comrade Rathbun joined his Regiment at Little Rock, Arkansas A
pril 25, 1864. The Regiment was assigned to the 1st Brig. 2nd Division 7t
h Corps. Department of Arkansas. Duty at Little Rock till June 1864. Oper
ations against Shelby north of Arkansas river May 13 to 31, 1864. Expedit
ions to Clarendon June 25 to 29, 1864. Engaged at Clarendon June 25-26, 1
864. Duty at De Vall's Bluff til August 30, 1864. Engaged at Gregory's La
nsing White River September 4, 1864. Duty at De Vall's Bluff guarding rai
lroad provost and fatigue duty til June 1865. Engaged at Hazen's farm nea
r De Vall's Bluff November 2, 1864. Moved to Little Rock, Arkansas thenc
e a march to Washington, Arkansas June 13 to 22, 1864. Guard public prope
rty at several points by detachments, with headquarters at Camden, Arkans
as til January 1866. Companies D, G. and J were stationed at Camden unti
l mustered out. They engaged in guard provost and fatigue dutes. Comrad
e Rathbun was stabbed by a dagger while in the service. Regiment assemble
d at Camden, Arkansas was finally Hororably Discharged February 15, 186
6 at Canden, Arkansas by reason of close of war. Member of Phil Mc Kerna
n G.A.R. Post #53 Department of Michigan at Mason, Michigan.
In Honor of Conrade Rathbun dedicated service by his widow Evaline an
d children in Margaret A., Thomas J., Daniel W., Olive, Lewis and Frank J
. June 1917.
