Sylvester bega n as a teacher at Grape Isl itt was converted from another church by seei ng the improvement in the aborigines and joined , and was learning how t o supply Mr. Benham's lack of service, both on the Island and at the he e xperience of the teacher, Mr. Sylvester H., who was the missionary in eve rything but name did preacher for the last 5 or 6 years. 'His introducti on to the conference like that of his erling integrity, strong mind, an d habits of labour were likely to make up for the want of yo 1836 - Re ceived on trial, Grape Island. 1837/8 - Rice Lake 1839 - Lake Simco e & Barrie. s charge alone and 'one was to be sent.' 1840 - Received i n full connexion and ordained - d Prescott 1874 - Montreal Died March 8 , 1877, age 73 years.'
