Notes

Jacob Hines bought a small piece of property in the town of Chillocothe . Then in 1806 he moved to a farm north of Chillocothe along the old Zane 's Trace Fronteir highway in Green Township, Ross County, Ohio.

Jacob Hines was born about 1750 of foreign parentage, (German).
1774 to 1776 Jacob Hines in Bethel Township, Lancaster County, PA.
1777-1790, Westmoreland Co., PA 1790 Census: HEINZ.
A Jacob Hines was in Donegal Township, Westmoreland County, PA in 1786 . Jacob Hines served in the Light Militia in
Montgomery Co. PA in 1790. He may have been in Sewickley, Beaver Co., PA . Left PA between 1787-1793 (another source 1790-1792).

He went to Bourbon Co., KY where at least 2 of his children were married . He purchased 161.75 acres in Ross Co., OH for $400.00, paid taxes 1806 , 7,8 (1st district) 1809, 1810, 1812, 1816, 1817, 1818 in Green Tws. A T homas S. Hinds paid taxes in Ross Co., Oh in 1816 Scioto Tws., relationsh ip unknown.

Vol. #22 page 77, Ross Co. Deeds, February 7, 1827, Thomas & Elizabeth W heeler, & fred & Cathy Smilty both sold land in section 32, tws. 9, rag e 21 (possible interitance).

Private Jacob Hines fought in the War of 1812 from OH., serving with Cap t. Phillip Mc Neme's Co., from August 14, 1812 & later with
John Entrikin's Co., probably from Ross Co. OH. from July 28, 1813 unti l Sept. 7, 1813. Not sure if this is Jacob Hines or his son.
Also serving from Ross Co. OH. were Privates Adam Hines, Phillip Hines , & John Hines.

1790 PA census: 1 male over 16, 4 males under 16, 5 females, nearby whe re Martin, Boston & Gesper Overly & their families. 1790;
Jacob Hines was living in Donegal Tws., Westmoreland Co., PA. 1802; Jaco bus Hines, purchaser from William Annis, lower side of Darby 40 acres i n 1802. Noted as sale of land of the Virginia Military District, from a n on-resident.

Jacobus HInes asks Gen. George Matthews to make him a deed to the land c alled the Round Prairie, lying on Deer Creek in Deerfield
Township, Ross Co., OH. (date of the newspaper was Thursday February 12 , 1807). Jacobus Hinees living on the tract of land known as Round Praire , lying on Deer Creek, offers his land for sale. (date of newspaper was M onday December 24, 1804).

From tract book-entries-congress lands-22 ranges & U.S. military lands V ol. 2 auditor of State page 192. Jacob Hines, Jr. range 21, twp. 9, Sec . 35 part of "section" SW 1/4 section 156.69 acres. Date of entry: Octobe r 112, 1805. Land office: Chilicothe. Residence at time of entry: Ross Co ., OH. (located now in the Worthington survey, Green Township, Ross Co. O H. Ohio: river survey. [S92]
