On 13 March 1824 Nathaniel bought 50 acres of land in Big Flats Chemungco unty N.y. for $300 from David Reynolds. Being part of the Dolson lot onth e northerly bank of the tioga river. it bordered John Emins lot. Thisma n over 45 in 1820 was liosted next to Nathaniel in the censuses of 1820 , 1825, and 1830, indicating that the latter purchased land on which hean d his family had been living. In the 1825 New York State censusNathanie l Aber was listed in Big Flats with 4 males and 4 females noonesubject t o militia duty., one male qualified to voteand one marriedfemale under th e age of 45. 3 females were under 16 and unmarried. Duringthe preceding y ear no births or deaths had taken place. the familyoccupied one acre o f improved land and had nine neat cattle , no horses,10 sheep, 2 hogs, se ven yards of full clothed manufactured in thedomestic way the familydurin g the preceding year, eight yards of flannelor other woolen cloth not ful led. The 4 males were Nathaniel and hisSons Jonas W Aber , born March 1 , 1816. William W Aber , born February17, 1819, John E Aber born in 182 0. The Females were Anna the wife andmother . Elizabeth Aber born 1818 , Mary Ann Aber born in 1822, and ayet unidentified daughter born appare ntly 1823, or 1824. [S1084]
