Jesse Sr. is mentioned as beingreceived into the church( Baptist) by let ter 7/1807 from Middleburg.

The following is quoted from "Representative Men and Old Families of RI , Vo. III, J.H. Beers, 1908: "While public records show that in the firs t century of Rhode Island there were many of the names of Braman residin g there these records are very fragmentary and direct descent is hard t o trace. In Newport there were many Bramans since the late 18th century , the posterity of one David Braman...." (Town records of Newport were lo st when a ship taking them to New York for safekeeping was sunk during th erevolution. They were salvaged, but are almost completely illegible. (R I Hist.Soc.)

Since no marriage record could be found for Jesse Braman to Martha Mudge , it is not known where they were living ca 1780. At this time the Mudg e family was along the New York - Massachusetts border. Lodema Braman's d iary states her grandfatherwas Jesse Braman Sr.

In 1800 a Jesse Breeman appears at Berne, Albany Co., NY, along with Jam es, John and Jonathan Braymont. James, John and Jonathan appear as Brama n on the 1810 census, but there is no Jesse. Nomore references to them co uld be found. These families at Berne are probably of our Braman famil y because of the proximity to Coeymans, NY. Several references were foun d in letters by Martha Mudge, of her 3 brothers who were Baptist Preacher s.
Just exactly where Jesse Sr. fits to Thomas remains a puzzle. He is pro bably a grandson of Thomas, but the exact line of descent is not known.

In searching for a connection of Jesse Braman to Thomas Braman, it is no ted thatthere are births of several Braman's without the names. This cou ld be the connection. With so many records incomplete or missing, I am n ot sure any connection to Thomas will ever be confirmed.

Jesse Braman Sr. is listed as buried in Ohio, along with his wife, Marth a Mudge, and their son, Jesse Jr.(who marriedNancy Ward). Huron County, O hio Cemetery Inscriptions Index was found for Braman, Martha, Jesse Sr. , and Jesse Jr. in #414. Although cemetery inscriptions were located fo r JesseBraman Sr. and Martha Mudge at Huron County, Ohio, he and his so n David died and were actually buried in East Creek Cemetery in New York.

Per Linda Laird: According to Thelma, Jesse Braman Sr. did die in 1811 , but it was in New York. Jesse Braman Jr., b 1782, and his son David ar e buried inEast Creek Cemetery. Although Martha's name is mentioned I wa s told she is notburied there. To find her will have to trace Samuel Gils on as he moved around.
